An optimized optical design incorporates a number of aspherical elements, a low dispersion and high refractive index to control a variety of aberrations, color fringes and distortion for crisp, clear and well-corrected images throughout the zoom range. Complementing the optics is a unique dual-magnet linear motor focusing system, which provides high-speed response and power while remaining compact in size. The lens also sports a rounded nine-blade diaphragm, which contributes to bokeh quality, and a waterproof construction to suit working in a variety of weather conditions.
The wide-angle zoom is designed for L-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras, however it can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal range of 24-52.5mm.
