Panasonic's POWER OIS lens is a 100-400mm equivalent zoom designed in collaboration with Leica for Micro Four Thirds cameras. The long range is complemented by a bright f / 2.8-4 maximum aperture range, which favors working in low-light conditions and also allows depth-of-field control for subject isolation. The optical design incorporates several low-dispersion elements, two aspherical elements, and an ultra-high refractive index element to control chromatic and spherical aberrations for greater clarity and sharpness. A Nano Surface coating has also been applied to limit flare and ghosting to increase contrast and color fidelity when working in bright lighting conditions.
Benefiting from both still shooting and video recording, a 240fps high-speed AF motor delivers fast, quiet, and precise autofocus performance. Additionally, a POWER optical image stabilizer will compensate for camera shake and work with Panasonic's Dual IS and Dual IS 2.0 camera stabilization features to minimize the appearance of camera shake. In addition, the physical design of the lens is resistant to dust and moisture, as well as anti-freeze, for use in inclement shooting conditions.
